This is my fourth class through Educational Resources and this is by far my favorite. I learned a lot of new ideas. - Jared Andring, Zumbrota, MN
Powerful Teaching is a very worthwhile course for any educator to enroll in. It offers a variety of useful concepts and strategies for educators of all grade levels and disciplines. I have taken multiple courses from Educational Resources of MN and have nothing but good things to say about them. All of the courses have offered very practical yet helpful ideas for educators of all ages. Powerful Teaching will benefit me in all of my leadership positions including teaching and coaching because it offers strategies that deal with current educational concerns. - Jade Niemyer, Orange City, IA
I believe that this course has given me the confidence to do what I wanted to do all along – have fun in class while still engaging the students. This has been one of the better graduate classes I have taken because it allows you to reflect back to your own classroom with real examples. I will certainly start my new year (Fall of 2010) with a stronger strategy list and with Hal Urban’s book by my side. - Kathleen Ayers, New Hampton, IA
I believe this is my 5th course through Educational Resources and once again I feel that this course met and exceeded my expectations. Every time I take a course through Educational Resources I am energized because I discover ideas that I can use every day. - Dan Burreson, Mineral Point, WI
This book has changed my teaching career. I’m so happy I took this class – it has given me new meaning on how to teach my classes. This is a book that I will reread over and over and share with my colleagues. Thank you and keep me in mind for any future classes. - Patrick McCluskey, Glen Ellyn, IL
This is my fourth Educational Resources of MN course and it was everything I had hoped it would be. I found the text readings extremely interesting and full of quotes and stories that I can use in the classroom that I think students will easily be able to relate to which at the same time getting ‘the message.’ I was also able to acquire several strategies and techniques that I look forward to using next year in my classroom. I also felt that the course did an incredible job of reinforcing and connecting some information that I already use but there were several ideas that I can incorporate into what I am already doing. There were also lots of other ideas that I haven’t used over the last 21 years that I look forward to trying – I know they will be effective and I look forward to seeing how my students react. - Debbie Graven, Pleasant Plains, IL
Outstanding class! The simple format and the Hal Urban book made it one of the best courses I took this summer. I have completed three of the Educational Resources classes and every single one gave me a ton of ideas that I can implement immediately into my teaching. I loved the independent study format and it worked great with my busy schedule. I absolutely recommend it for all beginning and veteran teachers. - Shari Cole, Grand Island, NE
20 Things Good Teachers Do, was a perfect choice to create an independent study. I couldn’t stop reading the book because it was so good and informational. It is very important to teach the whole student and Hal Urban’s book shows you how to teach the character part of the student. I can’t wait to start teaching next fall and use all of the great ideas. If you want to change the atmosphere of the class and your students… take this class and read the book. - Keith Swenson, Sibley, IA

I was a little apprehensive on taking this independent study course. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but after I started reading the book, it was actually hard to put it down! I do feel that I learned lots of valuable information that I am going to try in my own classroom. I would recommend this course to any of my colleagues and friends. - Lori Rushman, Ottumwa, IA
