I enjoyed and thought that most of the videos and the book fit the topic well. The last video that discussed using animals could be eliminated. Teachable moments are essential but animals are not necessary. Besides some classes through Be a Great Teacher, the other courses I have taken are specific to curriculum that we are using in the classroom. This class can help me to become a more effective leader in my classroom and school by taking much of what I learned. David A., OH.
Another course to motivate, refocus and provide strategies for the classroom. Immediate impact. Seena G., MN.
I love that the courses focus on a wide variety of different concepts. I am able to apply many of these concepts to my own teaching. Emma S., MN.
This was a final statement at the end of my coursework, but also seemed to apply as a review so I included it here:
PS: I received employee of the month shortly after finishing my action plan. While I didn’t mention it in my action plan, I through together a staff steel band for fun. We have been learning to play jingle bells on the steel band for our holiday assembly. We intend to play the tune in front of the students. This idea came to me in relation to spreading and recognizing joy. We began rehearsing near the end of October and it has been a real treat to build stronger relationships with my fellow teachers through music. I have to give a big thank you to the designers of this course, it really has had a strong impact on my career. I hope that my action plans creates some permanent habits in and outside of my classroom so I can carry this strength long into my teaching career!!
I really enjoyed the layout of this course and the material was so valuable toward how I want to structure my classroom. I was worried after seeing some of the videos that it would be repetitive from other courses I took but I appreciated that, while connected, I was able to learn different aspects of skills I had previously touched upon. Megan M., IL.
This was a wonderful class to take before the beginning of a new school year. I appreciate the thoughtfulness that went into creating this class. There were a lot of great reminders and tips to use for the upcoming school year to help establish and create great classroom habits. Jill K., NE.
I got a bunch of great tools from this course to use immediately in my own classes. APES, Wheel of life activity, and just the comment "Control the controllables," these things will be used immediately in my teaching. Matt R., IL.
This course is so much better than the other graduate courses I have taken because the presentations are done by real teachers with real experience. The presenters give you real ideas, concepts, and strategies you can implement right away. David W., MN.
I really enjoyed this class. The material was very useful and it was all current with the trends of education right now. There was a lot of material I took away from this class that I will use in my classes and teams I coach in the future. Colton E., NE.
