I really enjoyed this course and thought it had some great ideas that are easy to implement. My favorite being the 5-minute phases. This class seems so student centered and I appreciate that. So many of the classes that we take don’t focus on the students and I think they are the most important pieces of our job. I will be able to take many ideas that I have learned in this course. Some of them I am already doing part of, so this course gave me some ideas on how to enhance what I am doing to make it even better.

“I enjoyed taking the class Elevating Education: Ensuring Student Success. I felt that the objectives were clear, and I loved that each lesson had a choice of options. You could choose the one that fits your teaching area, and were the most interesting and applicable for your grade level. The class uses differentiation many times, allowing students to choose an area of technology, or stay in a more traditional writing for lessons options. The book “Teach Smart” provided many new strategies that will fit in any classroom. It was convenient to be able to work on this class in the comfort of your own home. I highly recommend this class or any others through Educational Resources.” Kay F., IA

“I very much liked this correspondence course. The lessons and questions matched up well to the text. I have taken other online/correspondence courses in which the written work we were asked to do did not correspond at all to the information presented. You included good ‘thinking’ questions. And, as you said, there were no hoops to jump through just for the sake of it. Well laid-out directions! Thanks for a good experience.” -Tim O., MN

“This is the fourth course I have taken from you and once again you delivered. I always am able to take away practical ideas that improve my teaching. Elevating Education: Ensuring Student Success helped me to focus on how I can improve learning for my students. It is going to help me put the focus on them and how I can better help them become critical thinkers and taken ownership and responsibility for their education. Thank you for providing this opportunity.” -Jeff U., IL

“I thought this course was thought provoking, very pertinent to what is going on in education currently, and allowed me to reflect on how I currently do things in my classroom. Not only did it provide a chance to reflect on my current methods, but offered many solutions and examples for change in many areas. This course provided ways for me to increase engagement, make the best use of my time, and make learning more enjoyable for a larger number of my students. This was the best independent study course I’ve taken, as it offered many items that will help improve in my profession.” -Dustin N., NE

“I took this course to increase my knowledge in learner-centered skills to engage students in my Science classes. The 11 strategies have provided me with the tools I need to plan for a new school year that can reach the students and encourage them to find that internal motivation to learn. Moreover, the action plan will keep my focus on transitioning from a teacher-centered to a learner-centered educator.”–Richard K., IA
